Preserving our Green Heritage, One Mangrove at a time!
In the ongoing environmental crisis, mangrove plants serve as a safeguard to combat the rising challenges of global warming. These species are recognized in various colours; red, black, and white surrendered in the coastal areas.
Mangroves largely act as natural barriers to storms, help fight coral bleaching, and shield the vulnerable environment. In light of this green heritage, numerous corporations situated in Karachi utilize the utmost chance of conducting mangrove plantation drives. With the realization of the significance of mangroves, similar initiatives have been executed by TPL in collaboration with organizations like WWF. These beach clean-up events or the coastal volunteer programs not only widen the deep understanding of mangrove plants but also serve as a beacon of hope for sustainable practices.
TPL group of companies, however, have extended this opportunity to further preserve the coastal marvels with the construction of the Mangrove Biodiversity Park in collaboration with the Sindh Forest Department. This ecological action is remarkable as it incorporates upcycling material and aims to leverage the space with a learning facility – an attempt to foster community development.
The Mangrove Biodiversity Park has been particularly designed with elements that ensure a unique eco-tourism experience equipped with a learning facility and bird-watching towers.
Inclusion is the foremost consideration for TPL and in this instance, it not only plans to train local fishermen as guides but also aspires to empower women by engaging them in producing merchandise
TPL is confident in developing Pakistan’s first Mangrove Biodiversity Park that commits to abide by selected UNSDGs for the greater impact of the park on nature, and the community at large.
