TPL’s Capacity-Building Workshop at NOWPDP
Empowering Graduate Trainees: TPL’s Capacity-Building Workshop at NOWPDP
In line with our commitment to inclusivity and professional development, TPL recently had the privilege of conducting a two-day capacity-building workshop at NOWPDP (Network of Organizations Working for People with Disabilities) in celebration of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. The workshop, titled “Communicate to Elevate: Corporate Grooming and Communication Skills,” aimed to empower 20 graduate trainees with hearing and speech difficulties, equipping them with critical skills to thrive in the workforce.
The workshop, which took place on November 27th and 28th, saw a dedicated team of three TPL members who spent 1.5 hours each leading interactive sessions. The sessions were designed to provide essential insights and practical knowledge on navigating the professional world.
Key Topics Covered:
-
- Professional Grooming: Understanding the importance of presenting oneself in a professional manner, both in terms of appearance and behavior.
- Workplace Conduct and Etiquettes: Highlighting the key practices and norms that are important in a corporate environment.
- Effective Communication: Emphasizing the role of communication in a professional setting, with a focus on email and letter writing and the significance of non-verbal cues.
An interpreter was provided by NOWPDP, throughout the workshops, to ensure clear and effective communication, fostering an inclusive learning environment for all participants.
This workshop not only helped participants gain valuable skills but also strengthened our collaboration with NOWPDP, as we continue to advocate for greater opportunities and inclusion for differently-abled individuals.
At TPL, we believe in empowering individuals to reach their full potential, and this workshop was a great step toward that goal. We look forward to further opportunities to contribute to the growth and development of our community, ensuring that everyone has the resources and support they need to succeed.
